Overview:
This position is responsible for coordinating, developing, writing, and centralizing product specifications and product description sheets. Assists with the maintenance of the technical services website and ISYS first production reports, tests interim tracking and specification impact, and the product image library. Works closely with multiple departments to accomplish these tasks. This position is responsible for the administration of Meat Vendor approval, qualification and documentation. This position also assists with the Quality Management System and interacts with plants as a technical resource for process and product specifications. Position functions as backup for doing original nutrition calculations from Genesis. Also work with Customer Service in handling complaints, nutrition, and data sheet requests.
This position requires an organized individual with exceptional verbal and written communication skills capable of independent decision making. The primary output of the position are specification documents used by the rest of the company to make product to customer requirements accurately. Inaccurate or untimely execution of this function results in significant financial risk to Farmland. Secondary outputs of the position include key decision making regarding audit compliance and Meat Vendor qualification.
Responsibilities:
include the following. Other duties may be assigned .
1. Coordinate the functionality and uniformity of product specifications in all Farmland Foods facilities and responsible for making sure these documents are completed in a timely manner. This is accomplished by coordinating, writing, revising, proof reading, and updating all specifications which provide the information necessary to yield consistent products. These technical documents are used in the manufacturing process to ensure that the product is meeting both Farmland standards and customer expectations. Manage packaging and ingredient change procedures relative to specification updates.
2. Create, write, and maintain product description sheets, nutritional information and customer specific specification sheets which explain the finished product in a clear and concise manner. This information is necessary for establishing government guidelines as well as marketing and sales to obtain new customers while maintaining current accounts.
3. Assist in managing the QMS (Quality Management System) Document system including but not limited to Technical Services Website Updates, ISYSTEM & ISYSweb upkeep, first production reports, test interim tracking and specification impact, and product image library.
4. Manage and administer Meat Vendor Qualification, Approval and documentation. Assist with creation and retrieval of Nutritional Values (learn & use Genesis labeling and NF software). Assist Corporate QA with obtaining proper paperwork and audits from co-packers.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Food Science or related field from four-year College or university and 0 to 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of Database software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet and Word Processing software; QMS system and SAP.
Knowledge of meat and meat processing.
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of data management and technical writing.
Understand fresh and processed meats.
Able to work and make decisions on tasks independently.
Must be able to prioritize competing demands on time and resources.
Ability to creatively integrate multiple information streams into comprehensive & understandable whole.
Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time. Additional travel during initial training period.
